Description | The pair poster, comprising one half for an image and another for the text, allowed freedom to both the artist and the copyrighter. This is one half of a pair poster published by London Transport in 1951. It was designed by John Minton to promote pleasure trips to the Thames. The image depicts a Thames scene. Tower Bridge is the only feature that remains the same. In the early 1960s the cranes and lighters began to disappear as the Port of London went into decline. The warehouse buildings that survived have been converted into bars, restaurants and luxury apartments. |
